KUWAIT TIMES: The 33rd Kuwait Book Fair is scheduled to open November 19th at the International Fairgrounds in Mishref. The Secretary General of the National Council for Cultural Arts and Letters (NCCAL), Bader Al-Refaei announced that the event will last for 11 days which is being held under the patronage of HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
The Kuwait Book Fair is the third oldest event in the Arab World after Egypt and Lebanon, disclosed Al-Refaei, adding that the first fair was held in 1975 with the participation of 77 exhibitors; a small number as compared to the 457 who will be participating this year.
Several books will be exhibited at the fair, which will also host cultural activities such as lectures, musical performances, and poetry recitals, he stated. A formative arts gallery will also exhibit works by 40 artists, he added. The Director General of the Kuwait Book Fair Saad Al-Mattiar disclosed that 24 states will be participating through 457 publication houses and added that about 12,231 titles will be featured at the event.
