Vacant Positions @ AUK Library


The Library at the American University of Kuwait is pleased to announce the opening of two new positions:

  1. Reference/Instruction Librarian

Responsibilities: maintains and delivers library services in support of the AUK learning community. Duties include but are not limited to assisting library patrons daily; conducting information literacy sessions; material circulation; interlibrary loan processing; report preparation; assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of library automation system; and receipt, processing and maintenance library collection. Also works closely with faculty in the development and acquisition of academic support resources. Responsible for other duties as assigned.

  1. Collection Development Librarian


Responsibilities: determines collection development needs and priorities as dedicated by the campus academic programs by working closely with faculty; Oversees and determines collection development policies and interprets them to faculty and library staff; determines the impact of proposed new academic programs on the library’s acquisitions and cataloging capabilities and on its budget, with special reference to potential reallocations of the library materials budget and the effect of such reallocations; Supervises the selection of materials for storage; oversees preparation of variety of management tools to maintain the effectiveness of the collection development program; consult with subject recommenders; maintain liaison with faculty; serves all library users by assisting with reference questions and follows routine procedures; performs other duties as ass

Dear q8 Librarian,

We are here. We see and read everything on the blog. If you don't see comments on the posts, that doesn't mean ppl dont read what's in the blog. However, I agree with you that most of the members do not participate in posting. I will try my best to have people participate in this, and I'm asking you as well to do so ..Let's try to make this tool better by adding some life to it
