Free Resources from EBSCO Publishing at www.LibraryResearch.com

NEWS STORY FROM THE NOVEMBER 2005 ISSUE OF MANAGING INFORMATION:

EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) has announced the availability of LISTA (Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts). This comprehensive library science database is available to any library, college/university, K-12 school, hospital, corporation, or other interested party at no cost.

Through the first weeks that LISTA has been available to the public, several hundred thousand searches have already been conducted. In fact, during the month of December (2005), LISTA ranked among the top 25 percent of all EBSCOhost(r) databases in terms of the number of searches conducted, and among the top 10 percent of databases that do not include full text. As
EBSCOhost is the most used online research service in libraries worldwide, providing access to nearly 200 databases, this level of usage for LISTA is no small feat.

LISTA is designed and offered to support the many areas of librarianship such as cataloging, classification, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, and information management. LISTA provides indexing & abstracts for more than 600 periodicals plus books, research reports and proceedings. The database includes coverage dating as far back as the mid-1960s. EBSCO's
intention is to provide free access to LISTA on a continual basis.

LISTA will soon benefit from the addition of in-depth profiles for nearly 3,000 authors covered in the database. LISTA's author profiles (like author profiles available in other EBSCOhost databases) will include author name, contact information, and credentials as well as journals included in the database where the author was published, and subject headings used to
represent the author's articles in the database. Though the profiles are not meant to be inclusive of a particular author's works, they are a tremendous benefit to researchers seeking experts in a given area. These profiles help users to decipher the value of authors' knowledge in given subject areas through a convenient look into their collections of works
appearing in LISTA.

In addition to LISTA, EBSCO offers a suite of other free resources such as Success Stories from customers, Funding Guides, Marketing & Promotional Tools, and many other interesting items for teachers & students. These additional free resources are made available as part of EBSCO's "Customer Success Center".

EBSCO encourages everyone to visit www.LibraryResearch.com to utilize LISTA and link into the Customer Success Center to gain access to these other valuable free resources. Any EBSCO database customer may also add LISTA to their current EBSCOhost(r) profile if they so choose.
